Personal Training Testimonials
Training with Sean is the most fun you can have in the gym at 5 in the morning!
I had taken fitness classes with Sean in the past, and I knew he was a beast that pushes his clients. After a recommendation from my Muay Thai coach, I started working with Sean one on one to increase my strength and explosiveness because I saw myself starting to plateau and not advance in my sport as much as I hoped.
I have always “lifted weights,” but no one had ever taught me how to do it correctly and I was apprehensive about getting too far out of my comfort zone. Sean worked with me for a couple months and it was incredible how much improvement I saw!! Not only was I stronger, but my speed, balance, flexibility, and posture all improved as well (I was also a lot leaner and had way more energy, which is a great plus!).
Sean was motivating, funny, and never ever let me get too comfortable with the program! He was always mixing things up, moving forward, and adding something that kept our (very early) gym sessions fun. I only wish I had started training with Sean sooner; he is truly knowledgeable and the best at what he does. I’ve had many coaches over the years and Sean is absolutely my favorite. No matter if you’re looking to lose weight, gain muscle, improve your conditioning, or just want your booty to look better in your favorite jeans, Coach Sean is the way to go!!

In February of 2015, I first started this journey knowing I was at an unhealthy weight and that my body fat was at more than 50%. To make matters worse I had no idea how to properly weight lift, squat, or do any conditioning yet. I knew I had to do something to make a change for my life.
I decided that I wanted to commit to a healthy life style where I could learn the proper ways to exercise and eat that would best benefit me. For me this meant that I needed to find the best trainer in Hawaii. Someone who had knowledge, experience, and passion. Most of all I needed someone who could find a way to motivate me since I lacked that self-motivation to work out on my own. I began researching online and viewing videos. I then went to different facilities to observe different trainers. When I came across Sean Valentine I knew I found my trainer, and WOW what an amazing trainer he is!!!
My journey started on February 11, 2015. Skeptical of myself and the unexpected, I met with Sean for my initial consult to discuss my goals, a nutritional program, supplements and my physical background and medical history. After that meeting my fears went right out that front door. Sean is nonjudgmental and made me feel at ease right away. I quickly realized that all my goals were attainable and better yet he ensured me that they would be attained!
So I should tell you I went for it. I added to my list of goals and I then decided I wanted it all. Strength, balance, stamina, coordination, weight loss, muscle mass, meal plans and of course someone who was going to motivate me to get that amazing bootie.
To date I have trained 46 sessions with Sean and have superseded all my expectations.
I have greatly improved my balanced and stamina. Seriously, when I first started I couldn’t even do a single squat and when I tried my balance and stamina were so off that I had to hold on to Sean to even attempt a single squat. Ha-ha! (I can now laugh at myself). As of today I am squatting 60lbs with proper form. My strength speaks for itself (I am going to make you wait for those results at the beginning of August my six month mark), this is just the beginning. Part of my workout routine includes eating the kinds of foods that will help me achieve the results I want. Sean created my individualized meal plans. Sean has an educational background in nutrition and understands its importance. Unlike most trainers, Sean tailors what you eat to your goals. He is continuously educating himself and explains what your body is doing and how it works when he trains you.
I have learned that motivation, and concentration are also key components in achieving my goals. And of course not panicking and breathing and remembering my body can supersede what the mind is telling it (this really works).
Sean has great style and is a master at his craft—he is kind, compassionate, understanding and has the best sense of humor but make no mistake, he pushes you to achieve your goals. He is the perfect combination of tough (“SEAN you are killing me”). And warm (“Yvonne you are doing SO well”). Sean motivates me to push past my perceived limits to get results (Though I hate squat thrusts my bootie would argue it’s the best thing ever).
I love the diversity he offers with training! Sean is always well prepared and keeps things interesting with no training session ever being exactly the same.
I have increased energy, I’m physically stronger, and I have muscles where there were none. Though I have lost weight and body fat percentages I am now in better shape mentally and physically than ever before. My confidence level has increased both in and outside the gym. And people have noticed a change.
What makes Sean different from other trainers is his ability to truly tailor your program to your goals and he is there every step of the way to ensure you reach them. While my workouts are of course demanding I do look forward to them. I look forward to sharing my results with you again in the next 3 months so don’t forget to check back!
I decided to write this because it has been life changing for me and I know there are so many of you out there who feel how I did when I first started but don’t let it hold you back. Though Sean is “the best of the best” and trains some of the best athletes and fit people he is skilled at working with all body composition types no matter what level of training they are at. Let me tell you if you are looking for a better quality of life with a trainer who is extremely knowledgeable and genuinely cares, then Sean is your man! His results with his clients speak for themselves.

A huge thank you goes out to Sean Valentine, who has been my friend and trainer for many years. It took some time to get here, but I hit a major milestone and lost 50lbs! When I started this fitness journey I didn’t have a specific weight loss goal or purpose besides getting my health back and feeling physically strong again. I was unhappy, tired all the time, and felt weak. I knew that I needed to make a change. With the guidance, expertise, nutritional planning, and supp...ort of Sean, I have lost 50lbs and drastically changed my body composition. It also took a lot hard work, sweat, and determination on my part. You really DO have to want it.
Most importantly, I feel amazing and powerful! I have been reenergized and am much stronger physically and mentally. We worked off and on together over the past year and a half and we did this without torturous cardio, crazy supplements, silly gadgets, starvation (I had a hard time eating all of the food that I’m supposed to!), saran wrap tricks, or any other crazy weight-loss strategy. Sean is an excellent teacher and was a supportive friend throughout this journey. He always made certain that what we were doing was safe for my body. I worked hard and I’m confident that I’ll be able to utilize the skills I learned from Sean to make further progress independently. I’m looking forward to the path ahead and am proud of what we accomplished!
Improving my fitness level was one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I found the best trainer to help me reach my goals. If you are like me and want to make a positive change in your physical health, get ripped, lose weight, or just need to fine tune things, check out Sean!

With my wedding fast approaching, I knew I had to get serious about losing those last few pounds. While I’ve trained with other coaches/trainers before, something about Sean stood out. He is truly passionate about the work he does and the clients he works with. He takes time to listen to what your fitness goals are, and builds personalized meal plans and conditioning workouts accordingly. His coaching and wisdom does not stop after a training session either. Sean even took the time in between clients during his busy day to help answer questions I had. He also responds to texts, emails, and Facebook messages even on his days off.
What I loved most about training with Sean is the way he was able to change up each workout, but not so much where every workout felt like the beginning of a new plan. I’ve had trainers who don’t plan out a program, and just train you for that day. Sean is not like that. At the beginning of each training session, Sean looks back at notes from the previous session and we go from there. This is important to me because it shows just how much effort her puts into each person each time he works with them.
The only downside to training with Sean is that there’s only one of him and he’s booked like crazy!! If you know you need to drop those last few pounds or jump start your new, healthy lifestyle by a certain date, you’d better sign up a few months in advance.

To summarize my last testimonial, I dropped 40 lbs (306lbs to 266lbs) over the course three months of eating right, and my first 20 sessions. I was very pleased with the progress, and I could see a major change in the way I looked and felt.
After a couple weeks on my own, I started up with Sean for Round 2…or “Not-As-Round” 2, as I look in the mirror and smile…I was stoked with what Sean helped me accomplish!
From the beginning, Sean explained that this battery of 24 sessions would transition from body composition work to concentrate on strength training. I enjoy, as Sean puts it “lifting heavy shit,” so this was what I was looking forward to during all of the body comp work. I was hoping to see progress in my strength, but I was amazed by the increases! After virtually every session, we were increasing the amount of weight. This from a start in June of 306lbs, unable to perform a body-weight squat!
These finish weights listed are for a minimum of 5 reps! Although Sean warned me that my weight loss would decrease, I am thrilled to say I still lost 17 pounds in the two-and-a-half months of training. This also include a period of two full weeks where I couldn’t lift at all due to an injury (unrelated to training)!
Sean’s can-do attitude and positivity is infectious. I have never had a “bad” training session with Sean. He knows when to coach hard and push me, and when to dial it back. I’ve lot 57 lbs overall, and down from a size 42 pants to a size 36! I’m both nervous and excited for the brutality of Body Comp 2.0! Coach, counselor, and teacher; if you thirst for health, Sean Valentine can lead you to “The Well.” Drink, bitches!

Before one could understand the true realm of what took place and obstacles Sean and I had to work with, some information about my situation is relevant:
I was 14 when I was diagnosed with lupus (auto immune deficient) and rheumatoid arthritis (deformation of joints). From those I inherited kidney disease, heart conditions, high blood pressure, depression, drug addiction, hormonal imbalance, a lack of ability to absorb vitamins, high cholesterol, and degenerative disc disease which left me with physical limitations which required me to need someone to get me out of bed every morning, physically dress me, and left me in a tremendous amount of pain, and completely exhausted spending about 20 hours a day in bed. As I'm getting older its beginning to be harder for me to move and personally care for my own body and be independent,
Therefore after my 16th surgery I gained more weight and at an embarrassing 218lbs, I asked my doctors for help. They suggested I gain another 10-20lbs so I could get gastric bypass surgery. Not wanting to get any bigger or more disabled I went to the gym. I tried working on my own but after no results and a leg injury I asked the manager at the gym to help me, I asked for a trainer who had enough knowledge and ability to work with my disabilities and had a strong personality to keep up with mine, who could keep me motivated, but not push my body to hard. I was desperate and couldn't wait any longer, so that's when he said he had a perfect match for me and introduced me to Sean.
Even though Sean was booked three months out, Sean graciously took away his own personal time willing to help me and allowed me to train that next week.
Anxious to get back to a comfortable place with my body I at first doubted Sean simply because the number on the scale would not budge. I was sticking (mostly) to the personalized diet he created for me, and the slow starting training program. See at first Sean had to teach me how to build up my heart and just get my body strong enough to physically move on its own without help. I couldn’t really see what changes were being made, even though Sean was patient and explained every step to me, I wasn't skinny yet. But after one month working with him I returned to the doctor and guess what, big changes were made:
I no longer had high blood pressure, my cholesterol was normal, the pre-diabetes was gone, I no longer had need for anti-depressants or any other medications, the lupus was in remission and so was the rheumatoid arthritis, my kidneys were functioning normal, and I had way more energy and I could get out bed on my own. I was even back to dressing myself again and I was pain free. So I began to believe in him and his training style.
After a bit more time working with Sean I started seeing my body change I became stronger and more confident. He encouraged me through every self-doubting thought, explained every question as many times that I asked it, he was extremely patient, kept me motivated, and he would even check on me to see how I was doing even on the days I wasn't scheduled to see him. He never let me quit on myself, Sean showed care and compassion with all he did. He kept our training sessions fun and light hearted. Although I wasn't a typical client trying to build muscle he made me feel strong and confident in the gym and in life. Thanks to my time with Sean I’ve been able to fight my diagnoses, gaining years of freedom from their deadly and crippling prognosis. I am extremely grateful for getting the opportunity to learn and train from not only a great trainer but a great man as well.

This is the second phase of training I’ve done with Sean and it was more successful than the last time! I’ve said it a million times, this guy is the undisputed best in the business. This dude should have his own gym, company, employees, and at the very least should be running the UFC Gym. Just look at his track record. Sean has worked with all types of clients, and has ALWAYS killed it when it came to getting them the results they wanted.
The first time I worked out with Sean, he was able to pack on almost 30 pounds of lean mass onto my under-fed seabird frame. This second time around, we were able to get me to my goal of weighing over 200 pounds. We shattered that goal. At the time of my final session with Sean, we had bulked me up to a whopping 212 pounds. My body fat actually dropped about .5%, and remained at about 15% throughout this last phase. This is simply amazing because he had me consuming upwards of 4,000 calories per day. This guy was able to slap on another 12 pounds of lean mass without making me a fatty boombalatty.
When I started with Sean, I weighed in at a sickly 174 pounds. I was disgusted with where I let myself get to, I couldn’t lift heavy, and I just felt small. I was embarrassed to go into the gym because of how small I was, and how much weight I could move. About a year later, I’m a solid 212, and continuing to grow with the knowledge he has passed on to me. He never made me do mindless cardio, restrict my calories, had me do any sort of fad diet, or ever steered me in the wrong direction. I am actually a NASM Certified personal trainer, but I have zero issues working out with, and learning from someone like Sean. People have been flabbergasted that I would let myself be coached by another person, let alone another personal trainer. I just think that’s flat out silly. If you were in the same line of work as say Warren Buffet, Steve Jobs, or Bill Gates, would you not shit your pants and jump at an opportunity to work with someone like that in hopes that you could replicate some of their success? Even coaches need coaches.
Sean is at such a high level, and works so damn hard, it’s contagious. He pushes me to be better every day, and that is quite rare to meet someone like that who can have an effect on your life in such a positive way. He is truly a master of exercise science, he sticks to his guns, he has developed and uses programs that he has proven to work miracles, and he always has an answer to your questions. I look at training with Sean as a privilege and I truly get the best of both worlds. I was able to continue to build my body into something I had always wanted, able to lift heavy ass weight, and I get an added bonus of being able to call someone like Sean my coach. The programs he created for me, the knowledge he dropped, the techniques he taught, and his nutritional knowledge have increased my ability to be a better coach myself. It’s like taking a masters course in personal training.
I can’t say enough good things about Sean. There is no other coach on this island that is as good as this guy and certainly nobody that will care as much about you and your goals as he does. The energy he has every single day is infectious. Although some days I dreaded showing up to the gym only because I knew I was going to work the hardest I ever have, he kept me wanting to come back. Never once throughout all of our sessions together did I feel like I wanted to take a day off, not show up, or take a break. He has a way of getting the best out of you, and during that, you begin to feel like you don’t want to let this guy down. He is so invested in your success that it would be flat out rude to give him anything less than 110% effort every single day. Remember, he transformed me from a 174 pound weakling, into a 212 pound guy who can more than hold his own in the gym. Do yourself a favor, look no further than this man. You will not find a better trainer than Sean Valentine, I can guarantee this. I can’t thank you enough Sean, you are the man. Until next time brother.

I was getting ready to graduate high school and wanted to get in better shape so I decided to join the gym with my dad so we could lift weights together. At that time, my mom had been training with Sean for about a month. She thought it would be good for me to also train with Sean. It would be part of my graduation gift to get me started towards my goal of being more physically fit. Well, in that case, I thought why not!
My first impression of Sean – “Man, this dude is huge!” One of his quads was as big as two of mine put together (LOL). And if I could have quads like those, then sign me up! But I was still nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. I knew from my mom’s training that this wasn’t going to be a walk in the park and that I needed to focus.First thing Sean did was sit down with me to talk about my goals. I knew I wanted to gain muscle and definition, but I didn’t know where to start. I’d never really been to the gym before and stuck mostly to the machines.
As far as physical activity goes, I get most of my exercise from riding bike. I love riding and usually clock in about 150 miles plus per week. I was surprised to hear from Sean that he could help me increase my endurance for riding too. I was looking forward to that. Before my first session, Sean set me up with a meal plan that he created based on my specific goals. I’m not gonna lie…it wasn’t easy at first and I fought it, but Sean was always checking in on me to see how I was doing with my eating and after he tweaked it with some substitutions, it got easier.
When Sean first told me that he was starting me out with the “basics” of resistance training, I wasn’t too excited because I felt that I could do more than that. That thought went out the window real quick once we got started. There’s nothing “basic” about anything Sean does (LOL)! The first few weeks were rough, but Sean always pushed me and knew how to keep me motivated. What I liked is that he didn’t just tell me to do something, he always explained it to me and I was learning continuously. From my very first session, I felt the difference. I didn’t know the end result would be as good as it is and there’s no way I could’ve gotten here on my own!
My training time with Sean was the jumpstart I needed. I’m much stronger and lifting confidently. My endurance has really increased from all the conditioning he had me doing. I can ride faster and longer without getting winded. My quads are still nowhere as big as his, but they have really grown which keeps me motivated to continue. I’ve taken everything he’s taught me and use it, whether it’s lifting weights (maintaining good form)…or flipping tires (chest up, use those quads) or even what I choose to eat (fuel, fuel, fuel). I’m glad that I let my mom talk me into doing this. I can’t thank Sean enough for believing in me and giving me the tools to become a bad-ass inside and outside the gym!!

Before: 173.2lbs @ 19.92% body fat (137.98lbs lean mass, 34.32 lbs fat mass)
After: 174.2lbs @ 15.41% body fat (147.35lbs lean mass, 26.85lbs fat mass)
Net Change: +9.37lbs lean mass, -7.47lbs body fat
I have one word to describe my time training with Sean: INTENSE. When I first started trying to get in shape at the beginning of the year I was at a point of frustration having tried all these various workouts, quick weight loss diets & getting no results. Surprise- surprise I was getting no where fast, that's when I realized I needed some help.
I had done a few of Sean's DUT classes and came out drenched in sweat after every class and woke up sore the next morning, EVERYTIME. I was always skeptical and intimidated about getting a personal trainer. I didn't think that it would work for me, but knew that I needed it & really liked Sean's style of training. He had me at NO CARDIO. lol.
After contacting and meeting with Sean my point of view towards Personal Training changed. One of my favorite things about him is that he is very detailed with his work. When we started training I was at my heaviest, 163lbs. He really took in what my goals were and came up with a meal/ workout plan that best fit me. He was always available to answer any questions or concerns that I had. His commitment to me and reaching my goals extended past the gym, he maintained communication throughout the entire time to ensure I was making progress. In total I trained with Coach Sean for 3 months and lost 20lbs. Although skeptical at first I have found this to be one of my most rewarding decisions.

Not that I didn’t notice her getting smaller and smaller every time I saw her, the transformation was amazing and I told her so…but the final hook was the sight of her triceps… winking definition every time she waved her arm in front of me. I wanted that. Janelle was a walking advertisement for the Sean Valentine revolution.
I’ve never felt comfortable in a gym, intimidated by the machines and free weights I didn’t know how to properly use. If and when I stepped foot in one, I spent my time on the treadmill or elliptical. Boring. The only plate I was familiar with was the “lunch” kind, nothing of the weightlifting sort.
Quite honestly, I’m mortified of posting this before photo. If I didn’t feel indebted to Sean for the “after”, I would never have ever considered sharing such a photo with anyone.
So here’s how it went down for me… I first met him end of March. Within a couple of days he emailed a meal plan along with a preview of the workouts I would face a month and a half later (his schedule is crazy full). And here I am now, a little over three months later, over 30lbs lighter, a few sizes smaller, and feeling incalculably better. By the way, those three months were not spent solely on the meal plan and balls to the wall workouts. It included a normal life with occasional parties, about three weeks of no gym time (miscellaneous reasons on my part to reschedule), and one too many pau hanas. Don’t get me wrong; the closer you follow the script, the better you will do.
Sean knows his shit and he will share that knowledge; given the chance, he will geek out on you. He doesn’t just tell you what to do, he tells you why. He taught me how to incorporate all of this into my lifestyle, so I know how to progress on my own.
Thank you, Sean, for pushing me and believing I had more to give whenever I wanted to give up. Prepare yourself for round 2 battle cries, Coach!
- Gabrielle A.
I was introduced to Sean in early April 2014. My girlfriend was very interested in training with Sean after seeing the results her friend was enjoying. My understanding was that he mostly trained women. Upon meeting him I was very impressed with his demeanor, and after one meeting with him, I signed on for twenty sessions.
Coming in, I was the heaviest I have ever been. I have been quite heavy for about 8 years, but I was tipping the scales at 306 pounds, with 30.04% body fat!
Within a week of our initial assessment, I had a personalized meal plan, and about five pages of information about the constructs of the diet plan, complete with references and guides to Sean’s plan development, nutrient and nutritional information.
The first few weeks were tough. Sean asked me to be pretty strict, so he could establish a “baseline” for reference. Once that was done, I would constantly email him, text him, etc. about substitutions, ingredients, etc. I kept expecting to annoy him with all my queries. In fact, the opposite happened. He always responded promptly, even on his days off. He would always actually encourage me to ask questions about substitutions, so that I could maintain a healthy, varied diet.
When I began training with Sean, I was sure I made the correct decision. Weight training days maximize efficiency, and get a LOT done in the given time. He adjusts the workouts as we go to maximize progress. Each exercise is explained. His conditioning “activities” are, shall we say, inventive. They are always changing, always taxing, and never routine.
I am very pleased with the results so far. I have seen progress in the way I look and feel. After 20 sessions, I am down to 266 pounds, 25.37% body fat. A 40-pound or so weight loss in just over three months!
A few years ago, I committed myself to getting into shape. I lost thirty-five pounds. And to do it, I lifted weights for almost two hours every morning, five days a week. I used a cardio program at night six days a week. I counted calories, ate almost nothing, and was hungry, irritable SOB for four months. And as soon as I didn’t count calories, the weight came back. Sean’s meal plans don’t leave me hungry, and I work out for a little over an hour, four to five times a week.
What impresses me most about Sean is that he is a realist. Life is filled with work, birthdays, weddings, baby parties, barbecues, graduations. Good days and bad days. He gets that. When I am not feeling it, his always-positive attitude brings out my best effort.
Many people have commented that training with Sean is like training with a friend. Yes, he is smart, funny, and personable; a great guy. But Sean is first and foremost a professional committed to helping his clients achieve the best results possible. He can and will get on you to push yourself. If you are down on yourself, he is encouraging. In all the sessions I had with him, he NEVER mailed it in, and that encouraged me to do the same. Sean helped me change my lifestyle and outlook, and I am very, very grateful…best investment in myself I ever made. I’m not there yet, but I will be. Thanks Sean, halfway there; looking forward to Round 2!!
- Jason A.
The only regret I have about training with Coach Sean is that I didn’t do it sooner! Let me give you a picture of who I was before I met him. I had lost a tremendous amount of weight on my own (75+ lbs) but was endlessly frustrated that I couldn’t seem to achieve the kind of body I wanted. I was restricting my calories to an extreme and would go on maniacal runs in fervor to lose the remaining pounds—not the healthiest of lifestyles. I was constantly tired, hungry, and, worst of all, had little body confidence. It was an endless cycle of restriction, exhaustion, and regret, and I didn't know how to break it by myself.
Enter Sean. The first time I saw him, I thought, “what have I gotten myself into?” I had already scheduled a consultation with him, and a friend pointed him out to me at the gym… as he was casually picking up a 110 lb. dumbbell in each hand and walking away like it was nothing. What. A. Beast!!! Needless to say, I was pretty nervous up until our first meeting. The gym had always been located firmly outside my comfort zone and, never having worked with a trainer before, I had imagined them all to be cattle prod-wielding terrors—an attitude that Sean changed really fast!
Even in the short time it took for him to assess my goals (weight loss, muscle gain to tighten up the loose skin, and B-O-O-T-Y) and present me with possible training options, I could tell a few very important things about Sean which proved to be true throughout my entire time training with him: he’s educated, he cares about his clients’ progress, and he is overall an incredibly nice person. He really understood where I was coming from as a person who had been overweight before and desperately wanted to finally feel comfortable in her own skin. It was when he sent me a text just to let me know how stoked he was to have me as a client and how excited he was to see all that we could accomplish together, that I knew I had made an excellent choice and was so lucky to have an all-around awesome trainer.
Sean started off by teaching me how to do conditioning workouts, which I began to do on my own, and then we moved into some basic lifts which prepared me for doing more advanced and heavier lifts later. All along the way, he answered any questions I had about lifting, metabolism, food, supplements (you ask it, he’ll answer it), even when I texted him on his day off. He pushed me hard without stressing me out. He transformed me from an unhappy girl who was starving herself into a woman who is proud of her body and all that it can do. A few months ago, no part of me would have ever thought myself capable of picking 200 lbs up off the ground. I can do that now! I have made so much progress. Sean was truly all in, and I couldn’t help but be all in as well.
Now, for the stats: I’m 22 and 5’9, and started off weighing 152.5 lbs with 26.26% body fat (40.04 lbs of fat mass, 112.46 lbs of lean mass). I initially scheduled 16 sessions with Sean, but then I got engaged shortly after we started training (yay!), so I decided to book 16 more. After the first set of sessions, I actually still weighed 153 lbs, but was now sitting at 22.19% body fat (33.95 lbs of fat mass, 119.05 lbs of lean mass)—so I exchanged 6 lbs of body fat for a solid 6.5 lbs of muscle! I am proud to say that most of that muscle went toward the shaping of a glorious posterior. Even better, almost all of the fat came off around the hips, so I actually became a belt loop smaller while at the same time needing to size up all my shorts and bikini bottoms (not a bad thing at all). Everything is tighter, stronger, perkier, and all around better. My fiancé was actually gone for 6 weeks out of the time that I was training with Sean, and when he got back, all he could say was “WOW.” I have had random people in the gym come up and compliment me, have had SO MUCH encouragement from family and friends who can see my progress, and even have had coworkers and classmates ask what I’ve been doing in the gym and if there is a new diet I’m on. I have also been able to share some of the things Sean taught me with my fiancé, who lifts as well. I’ve never been so healthy, happy, and confident in my life!
If you’re thinking about training with Sean, stop thinking and do it. Wherever you may be, I’ve been there too—from overeating and overweight to starving myself and having absolutely no muscles. Whatever your goals, he will help you reach them, just as he helped me reach mine and changed my life in the process. Thank you Coach!!!
- Stephanie C.
I started my personal training sessions with Coach Sean back in March 2014. He sat down with me and asked me questions of all sorts to paint a picture of what my daily eating and exercise habits were. Sean came up with an in depth meal plan and exercise routine suited just for me in just about a day or two. Not only was i impressed at the hustle he put forth for me but i was definately pumped to start my sessions with him. I started eating healthy, portioning my food ( yes, i even bought a food scale), and taking DA HUSK (aka course cut metamucil containing psyllium husk). I could write a novel on my rollercoaster with DA HUSK but it gets greusome and dirty. If i could sum it up in four words it would be something along the lines of " the OH JESUS poop". But i have learned to love the stuff and how amazing it is.
Every single session with Sean was grueling and painful, but I had a blast through every moment of the pain. Sean pushed me past my limits and showed me just how strong I really am. In our first session I was lifting weights i couldn't believe (I was romanian deadlifting 100 lbs!). I felt like a beast! We made goals and surpassed them with ease. Sean is a compassionate, educated, professional, caring, kind, and hilarious trainer! He has vast knowledge on everything he does. He could talk about how muscles work and how fat is burned for hours on end. I always felt safe, and that has always been one of my big concerns when I lift.
Okay, now for the numbers! I am 5 ft 2 in and 22 years old. My starting weight was 163 lbs when i decided i needed to do something about the extra chub and jiggle i was carrying around. When I started with Sean i had made it down to 156 lbs but i was stuck and needed guidance. After not even four of our sessions ( I purchased 20 sessions) I was already down to 150 lbs. My ending weight is a steady 144 lbs. Right before our last two sessions together I went on vacation for two weeks to California. I ate plenty of In-N-Out, Chipotle, and countless other unhealthy but delicious foods that I can't get in Hawaii. I didn't even feel bad! When i came back and weighed in at 145 lbs i couldn't believe my eyes! By eating right and training hard my body didn't even retain any of the yucky stuff and burned all the fat even though I didn't work out for two weeks....WINNING! If i wasn't leaving Hawaii for 7 months I would absolutely buy 20 more sessions with Coach Sean. He changes lives and I am glad that I have been a part of building his empire! I will preach only great things about him to everyone I know and i will proudly wear my "This Is Why I Squat" tank in Europe!

Coach Sean is a beast. A lot of the things I would say about Sean quite a few other people have already mentioned in these testimonials. He is supportive, knowledgeable, challenging, capable, focused, and professional. It is very apparent that when you are working with him, his sole goal is helping you reach your goals. Not only that, but Sean looks the part and walks the walk. It’s important to me that the person asking me to do something can do it themselves. Sean can and does and that motivates me.
The main thing about Sean that stuck with me from our time together is the level of quality knowledge Sean dropped on me. I am 31, have been working out since I was 15, was a high school varsity football player and wrestler, played football in college, spent time in the military; I have worked with professional strength coaches at the college level and have had 2 personal trainers prior to Sean. I learned more in 4 months with Sean than I did in any prior venue and from any prior person. Not only did he have everything planned (a rarity amongst trainers), but his programs work. His meal plan completely changed the way I look at eating and the lifting programs he designed for me have become my go-to foundation for everything I do now in the gym.
I got back into the gym because sitting around in grad school had put me somewhere physically I wasn't happy with. My initial goals were to get as close as I could to the best shape I’d ever been in (right after PLC 186 in 2004). Sean helped me shatter my previous strength records and motivated me to realize despite being 10 years older I could get into even better shape than I had ever been in. I’m closing in on that goal now, and everything I do to get there has Sean’s stamp on it.

For most of my adult life, with the exception of one semester in college, I was pretty much a potato... I kept the "freshman 15" off that first semester in college, but it came back with a vengeance shortly thereafter. Life happens, work happens, and time goes on... fast forward to September 21, 2013. I had been feeling ill for weeks... no appetite, little sleep, sluggish, groggy, moody, in short, I wasn't myself. I had been throwing up for days... so finally, I checked myself into the emergency room at Straub. I was diagnosed with Diabetic Ketoacidosis, whereby your body cannot process the sugars in your blood for energy, and uses the next best alternative; muscle and fat for energy. This explains the fact that while I was tired, sluggish, and groggy, I was losing quite an amount of weight. I was about 220, down from the highest at 245, in September. After 6 days in the hospital, 3 days in the ICU, and as one doctor put it, "being 72 hours away from zipping the bag up for the last time", I was discharged with a mandate to "take charge of your health..." At the time, I thought that meant eating better, I cut out white rice, white bread, and started to eat "healthier" proteins... I was still weak though.
Then as my New Year 2014 resolution, I resolved that I would begin taking a more active part in my health, and the change in my lifestyle. I thought I would sign up for some gym, go 2 or three times a week, and that would be that... until I saw a post from a high school band mate Deb Eveland, singing the praises of another High School band mate Sean Valentine... I saw what he had done for her, and I thought, maybe I'll give this a shot... so I signed up to join UFC Gym in Kakaako, and tagged on 20 individual sessions with Sean as my personal trainer. Not going to lie, it's not cheap to do... Now, here I am, 3 months later (we started at the end of February) and while I haven't lost all the weight I want to (that's ALL my fault for not sticking to the meal program) I have the tools I need. Sean isn't your average trainer. He's not all about cranking out cookie cutter programs that might work for you... He's about seeing you rise to your personal potential, whatever that might be. In the three months that I've worked with Sean, I've noticed that my muscle mass is increasing, I've noticed that I'm getting stronger, I sleep better, I wake up better, I look better, but the most important thing is that I feel better. Signing up with Sean, for me wasn't about vanity, it wasn't about trying to get ready for a competition... it was about equipping myself with the tools I need to make a healthy lifestyle change so that I don't die again. Would I recommend Sean? You bet your ass I would. Even though my "official" sessions with Sean are done for now... my journey is just beginning. and I know I'm on my way, thanks in large part to my coach, my friend, Sean Valentine.
- Neil Y.
Note: Through our training sessions and Neil's determination and fortitude, we've been able to decrease his long acting insulin medication by 20%, his cholesterol medication by 50%, and lowered his fasting glucose levels by 20%. Neil is dominating his battle with Type II Diabetes, and I'm honored to have been a part of the process. -- Sean
After watching my boyfriend train with Sean for a whopping 40 sessions, I was beyond impressed with not only his physical results, but also his passion for lifting, and his friendship with Sean. I had 6 extra one-on-one sessions, so I decided to use them with Sean. My goal was to lift heavy and get big. I recently competed in my first bikini competition and was told to build my upper body. Sean came up with an amazing, customized program for me that really put my goals as the number one priority. While we did not take any body fat measurements or weight (per my request), I know I was able to put on some size, even in the short amount of time we worked together. I feel stronger and more confident having worked with him. He also emphasized proper form throughout all of our sessions, which helped me to avoid aggravating my bulging disc. I really like that he cared about my injury and always made sure I wasn’t feeling any pain. Once I save up, I am absolutely buying the most sessions possible with Sean because he 1. Pushes you beyond your limits 2. Gets you to your goals 3. He is NOT a cookie cutter trainer and 4. Is so friendly, funny, motivating, and easy going. THANKS SEAN!! You are awesome.

I met Sean several years ago while working together in New York City. Sean always impressed me with his humor, professionalism, and kindness. When Sean moved to Hawaii and began a career as a PT, I knew immediately that I wanted to work with him as I tried to lose weight and get stronger after the birth of my daughter. When I contacted him, Sean asked about my concerns, stress in my life, how much time I could dedicate to working out, and foods that I really disliked. He also asked about my medical history and spent time just getting a better idea of where I was in my life. He created an easy to follow work out plan and included a more detailed plan to explain the rationale behind the workout. Additionally, he developed a simple meal plan for me to follow. The meal plan took my needs and preferences (like avoiding artificial sweeteners) into account, but still allowed for some flexibility.
For the past 5 months, I've contacted Sean at random times (he's in HI; I'm in VA) by Facebook and email. He always replies to my silly questions ("can I have macadamia nuts instead of raw almonds?" "How many egg whites make up 5 oz of protein?") without judgment, sarcasm, or making me feel stupid. He's so patient and kind...he really makes me feel like I'm his most important client, and that support helped me get through the roughest stages of the plan. Because of him, I've lost 25 pounds and now weigh less than when I got pregnant with my daughter. I'm running races faster than ever (even doing a workout plan that doesn't include running), and I am lifting heavier weight and am stronger than before the baby.
Thank you, Sean, for helping me to reach all of my health and wellness goals!!

Starting facts: 45 years old; 5 feet tall; 128 pounds; Knee pain / shoulder pain; non-functioning thyroid; currently taking synthetic thyroid hormone.
I have been working out with Sean since late August 2013 and I just had my last session last week (April 15, 2014). I initially signed up for intro sessions with the wishy washy goal of losing about 10 pounds and just trying to get my life back after my thyroid was taken out. Anyone who has struggled with a thyroid issue knows how easy it is to gain weight and how impossible it is to take it off. Additionally I was having joint pain that my doctor chalked it up to "getting older".
I knew after the first session that Sean understood me better than me. He helped me set a hard goal, recognized my desperation to feel good in my skin -- and to be able to do the things I used to do. He also worked with me to develop a nutritional plan (food and timing) that worked with my life, my diet constraints (gluten free), and it alleviated many of the side effects of the thyroid condition (weight gain, exhaustion, weakness).
In the first two weeks I was already feeling better than I had in a year and I was down about 3 pounds. I continued to workout with Sean and I continued to lose weight. When you have a thyroid condition weight loss is unheard of -- my doctor even told me that the best I could hope for would be to maintain my current weight.
By Christmas (4 months) I had lost 8 pounds and my family and friends had started to make comments. It got to the point where I didn't care what I weighed -- I felt so much better. I stopped weighing myself; I felt good, my clothes fit good, I wasn't tired, and I felt motivated to do stuff so the scale no longer mattered.
I continued my sessions with Sean and he made the workouts valuable -- I wasn't wasting time and each workout program was tailored to getting stronger. And he pushed me toward getting stronger. And the stronger I got the better I felt. It doesn't matter how old you are -- lifting heavy turns back the clock ... physically and mentally. Confidence soars when you have someone you can count on to push you to do things you would never do but Sean knew I was capable of. When you do things you never ever (even when young and healthy) could do (i.e.: pull-ups) you start feeling better than you were ever -- not better than when you were sick.
Sean always took things into consideration -- not just goals that are meaningful to you but what health challenges you've had before, and if you were an athlete when younger or have never done that particular type of exercise. He absolutely listens and every workout is about you -- physically and mentally. You will get results from Sean physically -- if you want results -- Sean will deliver. If you feel that any part of the program (diet / exercise) doesn't fit YOU he doesn't judge but he finds a way or helps you get back on track by adjusting what is realistic for your life.
The biggest thing that Sean offers, that no sales person while be able to tell you is the mental impact of what he provides. Before you go and give your money to a therapist you should try a few of Sean's sessions. He works on your goals inside out. He does not simply provide an "exercise program" but he gives you a way to change your life -- I can truly say, through Sean, I have permanently changed my lifestyle for the better and in a way in which I can (and want) to continue to live. Because of these miracle workouts and diet I can mentally deal with the stresses of the day in a much productive manner which has led me to greater success. You would be amazed at how much 100 med ball slams can alleviate stess.
I believe in Sean so much that I invested in almost 100 sessions. I wish I could invest more but I am moving away from my favorite Coach, Trainer, partner in achieving my goals. If you invest in Sean for even 1 session you will instantly know what I mean. As an administrative aside: Sean has never been late, he is always focused on me during my time, he is totally professional and all his recommendations are for your good, and not for a sale. Additionally, you can email him questions and he will always get back to you.
The final facts:
5 feet tall; 45 years old (Sean can do a lot of things but he could not make me taller or younger); 113 Pounds (net loss of 15 pounds)
Still have Thyroid Issues but they no longer define me. I have no knee pain -- only strong legs. I have no shoulder pain -- only really nice arms (see photo). I have done 1 pull-up on my own (I've always wanted to do this but never could). Dead-Lifted 230 pounds. Have had people stare at me in the gym because I'm awesome (LOL) -- How did I know that's what they were thinking? Because they told me.
So I've known Sean since the 7th grade. We were practically in every single class together. I was always a big kid and so was Sean. Anyway, sometime after high school I started working out and dropped a bunch of weight. I went from approx 320 lbs at my heaviest, to 215 at my lightest. I did this by strictly eating right and exercising. It took me a few years to get down to that weight and I had a hard time keeping it off.
For the past few years I have been working at a tech startup in Seattle as a software engineer. They treat us really well and provide a multitude of catered meals, snacks and beer. I gained about 20 lbs since I started working there even while playing tennis 5 days a week. Before my last visit home, I messaged Sean to see if he could help me get back on track. Sean was happy to help and we trained the week I was home. Having played sports and been on a fitness program myself (to lose the weight the first time), I thought I knew a lot about working out. As it turns out, I knew a lot less than I thought I did. Sean got my ass in gear and taught me the proper technique on a the core lifts that I was doing incorrectly all along (deadlifts, squats, rows, bench press, shoulder press, pull-ups, planks and lunges). I had been doing these lifts for years but never got the workout that I got while training with Sean. He also developed a custom nutrition plan that catered to my daily schedule and eating habits.
I have been back in Seattle for 2 weeks now. I am 11 lbs down and have more energy now than I can ever remember. My pants are so much looser and I am still only doing body weight lunges. I really feel like the difference is the correction in technique coupled with the meal plan. I lifted 4-5 times a week for years and never saw results close to what I am seeing now.If you have the opportunity, go see Sean. You won't regret it. He is not your regular "Bro" trainer. He's a smart guy - a nerd like me. Scientific research drives all his training sessions and he always takes the time to explain the reasoning behind his teachings. Once you understand WHY you are doing something, it is a lot easier to DO IT. I can't recommend Sean enough. He continuously follows up w/ me even though I am not technically a "client" anymore and I know his big spirit and loving personality will drive you through the sessions and empower you to achieve your goals.

A HUGE thanks goes out to Sean Valentine for guiding and pushing me through a physical and mental transformation that I couldn't have accomplished on my own. With his extensive knowledge, positive attitude, endless energy, and a fierce dedication on my part, we accomplished a body transformation that I didn't think was possible. My body fat % is down, 33lbs lost, and new muscles gained that I didn't think I'd ever have. There is definition to my body that I never knew! I've just about reached my initial overall goal, which I expected to take longer, but there's no stopping me now!
We accomplished these changes by pairing badass workouts with a nutrition plan that works. I ate 6x a day and strayed off of my plan here and there as life called for it. It was an adjustment for the better as I am eating cleaner and healthier while still losing weight.
When I first met with Sean to discuss training I told him two things: No running, and no burpees. They weren't even on his agenda. We did it all without tiring long distance cardio or torturous movements. I spent a total of 3x a week in the gym and my workouts with Sean lasted only an hour (I spent some extra time stretching/warming up). Sean wasted none of my time and made every workout challenging in a safe way. Our sessions were incredibly efficient as I did not slave away at the gym for endless hours and still have had amazing results.
Not only do I look better, I feel amazing. I made one of the best decisions of my life and found the best trainer to help me reach my goals. If you are like me and want to make a positive change in your physical health, get ripped, lose weight, or just need to fine tune things, check out Sean!

I grew up as an athlete, so the gym was my second home. I figured after years of training camps and workouts, I knew everything there was to know about lifting. I moved here to Hawaii with no intentions of joining the UFC Gym. I ended up joining after touring the gym, it just felt like a good fit. A few days later, I received a text from one of the trainers, Sean. I thought to myself, great, this place is going to try to jam a whole bunch of stuff I don’t want down my throat and try to gouge me at the same time.
For some reason, I decided to sit down with Sean just to see what this was about. Again, having no intention to buy what I thought would be ridiculously priced personal training sessions, where some guy or girl is going to be yet another glorified rep counter. I am an athlete; I don’t need someone telling me what to do! Within the first five minutes, he had me sold. He didn’t BS me, or try to get me to buy more sessions than I wanted, or sell me useless supplements to make a quota. He just sat me down, told me how he trains, and asked me what I wanted. We ended the conversation with me being so fired up and motivated, I bought 40 sessions with Sean and it was the best investment I ever made.
Now, I have had personal trainers before, and it’s always the same. It just feels like you’re another number in their day, and they are just trying to get through your session for the sake of being one step closer to the end of their day. Sean didn’t waste one minute of my time. He knew how much I paid for the workouts, and he also knew that I was motivated to jam pack as much progress into our sessions as possible. Instead of watching me stretch and warm-up for 20 minutes, like some other trainers would do, he simply asked that I get there a bit early and do that on my own time, so we could just focus on the lifts. He understood my goals, and did everything in his power to make them attainable. The rest was up to me to follow his guidance to the T, and just bust my ass.
These workouts were super intense, and very different from what I was used to. It totally recreated the image of working out in my mind. I now know I had no idea what I was doing for years and years. Not only did I pack on a ridiculous amount of muscle, I dropped my body fat and increased my “cardio”, without ever doing cardio... all while consuming an absolute absurd amount of calories. That should be the best sales point right there. I didn’t spend one minute running, jogging, or any of that crap.
But seriously, every single workout was a blast. Instead of just counting my reps and walking me to the next station, we talked about normal stuff, and the dude has a serious sense of humor. While he can keep it light and joke around with you, Sean commands respect without being a hard ass. He keeps you on track during your session, and makes sure the time is utilized to its fullest. He somehow makes you want to work your hardest for him, and gets you into a mindset of not wanting to let him down, let alone yourself. As I said before, I wasn't just another block of time in Sean's day. This guy is the real deal and a "full service" trainer. You get custom, tailor made workouts based on your goals and athletic prowess. Not only that, but the trainer and trainee relationship extends beyond the gym walls. I could call, text, or email Sean at any time with questions or concerns, or even a new program. Sean is more than willing to share his knowledge and his very own training secrets with you at no extra charge. You get what you pay for. What you get in Sean is the very best trainer, and a friend who genuinely cares, not only about your progress, but cares about you as a person too.All in all, this was by far the best money I’ve ever spent on my body. If you want results, but aren’t sure where to turn, head on down to the UFC Gym and talk to Coach Sean. No matter what your goals are, this guy can get you there. Thanks Sean, you’re the man!
- Danny L.
Before training with Coach Sean, I never lifted weights or knew much about health and fitness. I started out as someone who thought that workout DVDs were the only way to go and that there was no need to get a gym membership or lift weights. Even though I completed those workout DVD programs, I never saw results or got the results that I had always wanted. Then I considered doing personal training and met Sean.
I remember during my first few days of training with Sean that I was having a hard time learning how to lift weights and do squats (which are Sean’s absolute favorite..haha!) because I had never done them before. I even remember when he told me that I had to gain weight in order to build muscle and burn body fat. In my head, I was like WHAT?!?!?! I thought this because I really wanted to lose weight and get to 130 pounds. However after how many weeks of training with Sean, I noticed that I was slimming down and getting stronger/gaining weight which was awesome to see. Despite being new to weight lifting and all this health and fitness stuff, Coach Sean helped me to understand all of these things in an easy way. Other than weight lifting, I learned how to properly do squats and all these other techniques that target almost every part of the body. I swear I learned more from Sean than I did from any of my college professors. He created very good personalized training and meal plans that had easy to follow explanations and helped me to get to where I am today.
It may not have seemed like it when I would have my training days with Sean, but after such a long day at school and work, I was always looking forward to training with him because it was the highlight of the day for me and I knew that with each day that I had training, I was slowly achieving my goal. Even though I was tired and struggled to continue the reps, Sean kept motivating me to push harder and to not quit.
Sean is an awesome coach and just a great individual overall. Every time I trained with him, I felt like I was working out with a friend. He is like the older brother I never had. Overall, I would say that it was a great experience training with Coach Sean and I am really satisfied with the results that I have gotten from everything that we did together. I have muscles, I feel stronger, I am slimmer, and my thighs are rock solid! If I had the opportunity to train with Sean again, I would definitely do it. If you want to achieve your health and fitness goals and do it with the best out there, Coach Sean is the way to go!!

Why Coach Sean is a key to success for me and FOR YOU!!
I've never been a specimen of physical fitness... As much as I want and as much I say I'm going to get fit I never follow through. A portion of it has to do with my drive, however the largest part of it is my knowledge of fitness, what to do, how to do it, and a force (which is what I consider Coach Sean to be) driving me through to the end.
My first intent in seeing Coach Sean was the dreaded seasonal Navy PRT session. I needed help and direction. I had to make the choice of either making body fat measurement or weight. With the direction and planning of Coach Sean, not to mention a food plan anyone could follow, we made our goal and I am still an active duty navy Sailor.
From the get go and our introduction Coach Sean gave me his undivided attention during our allotted time and even during his off time he guided me, directed me, pushed me, and the 2 most important things... he never gave up on me and he genuinely cared about me as an individual. With Coach Sean you are not paying for a coach, you are paying for a nutritionist, fitness partner, and a life coach. A person that will guide you, listen to you, assist you, drive you, build you up, and will NEVER let you down. All he asks in return is you work hard, push yourself, and to let him help you. I felt good about going to the gym, he helped me get through the sessions when I had difficulty, and he REALLY taught me to joys of a good cardio session. :)
All kidding aside if you want to get fit, learn some great life/fitness skills, and better yourself with the best trainer money can buy, Coach Sean, the cardio king will lead you on to glory. I continue to be able to serve this great country and its fine citizens all due to the drive and direction of one of the most genuine, caring, and knowledgeable human beings that has set foot on this planet.

I met Sean on January 17th 2013 and told him what I'd lke to achieve working with him. Over the next three months until April 22nd 2013, he created a program for me. Not a basic one but one for my personal needs and current health. He showed total concern and gave 100% every time we worked together. In return I did the same.
End result: 1/17/13 --- 249.5lbs; 4/17/13 --- 218.5lbs
I am 66 years old and was in average health when I started and today, because of Sean, I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm at least three times stronger and enjoy myself a lot more. Over the many years, I've had several trainers and can truly say that Sean is in a class all by himself. I would totally recommend him to anyone who is interested in improving their looks or health.
I am grateful to Sean for showing me the way to a more healthy lifestyle.
I joined Sean's 8 week battle camp which was great fun - 30 minutes 2 times a week - this helped me increase my strength. I also got to try out some gym equipment like the sled and the sledgehammer. I liked the quick workout with maximum benefits.
During my first battle camp session, I nearly fainted due to low blood sugar even though I had eaten breakfast. I asked Sean for some advice on how to get more energy for my workout. Sean designed a Nutrition Plan for me and my busy lifestyle. It is simple to follow, my energy levels stay even throughout the day, and I have ditched the sugar cravings. Plus, I don't need to make something different for my family. I achieved my goals of keeping my energy level even and I have plenty of energy for my workouts.
For the last 6 months, I had been thinking about doing more weightlifting but I didn't know how to do it safely. It was also scary to move out of my comfort zone - the cardio room. With Sean's encouragement, in just a few sessions, I have learned so much and I can see results. I am now able to spend less time in the gym and bust through the plateau. I have lost weight, I can see better muscle definition, and my clothes fit better.
Sean is a patient coach who encourages and listens. He presents all info in a professional, written guide that is easy to follow when I am working out on my own. He is always available for questions by email and in the gym. Sean has helped me gain confidence in my body and its abilities.
I am now able to follow my workout plan safely and on my own. In just 3 weeks, I have even increased the weight on some exercises.
I would never have thought that I would work with a personal trainer, but this has changed my life. Thank you, Sean.

After turning 30, and coming to grips with the fact that I was getting up there in the years, I decided I needed to do something to get in better health. I didn’t want to grow up and be an old, fat, bald man.
The old and bald part was out of my control, but I was going to do something about the fat part. I started working out, walking, and eventually running short distances. But it didn’t seem to be doing much good. Luckily Sean was a friend from back in the day when I was in the Coast Guard, and posted some pictures offering his services on Facebook.
I got the Nutrition Plan and Lifting Plan from Sean, that he catered to my body’s needs and my long term goals. I was hesitant at first, thinking that I would constantly be hungry. Or that my food budget would sky rocket. Or that I wouldn’t be able to do the workouts that he laid out for me. But I was wrong on all accounts. Sean had me eating so much, that I was constantly full, and never once got hungry. When he gave me the Nutrition Plan, he outlined how I could save a couple bucks here and there, by buying certain products in bulk, different brand names, or tips on how to cook food to make it go the furthest. And finally, he had me eating at the right times of day, so that I wouldn’t show up for my workouts ready for a nap, I would show up energized and ready to lift.
I now weigh less than I did after graduating from Boot Camp in the Coast Guard, and even less than I did in high school. I peaked weighing 230 lbs at my 30th birthday. I now weigh 168 lbs coming into my 31st birthday. My endurance has gone through the roof. I used to not be able to run at all. A mile would knock me out. When I finally started to see results, and run a little bit more, it took me 34 minutes to run a 5k. I entered my first race, and ran a 5k in 23 minute and 10 seconds. I’m stronger than I have ever been, and I have a diet that is easy to stick to for the long term.
Anyone consider using Sean as a Personal Trainer should stop their search and sign up now.
- Steve M.
My husband and I have know Sean for several years now, and have always trusted his fitness advice. So when I needed to loose my baby weight while nursing, I immediately turned to him. What success! He took my many concerns about maintaining good nursing supply, having time to eat healthy, stay on a budget, and the advice of my endocrinologist to create the perfect plan for ME. Because of the time and care he took with addressing my specific needs, I've been able to adapt a true lifestyle change and see amazing results. Even two months after delivering the plan to me, Sean has been there to offer support and answer any questions I've had. I have more energy, and just feel better (not to mention lighter) thanks to his guidance. I would wholeheartedly recommend his services to anyone looking for help to improve their health and fitness, and am so grateful for all the support he has given me on this journey!

When I first started working with Sean I was very aggravated with the results I was getting in the gym. I had been working out for a few years but really was not seeing any drastic changes. I knew that I wanted to lose fat and gain muscle but I as I learned, I was too focused on cardio and long gym sessions that were not getting me anywhere.
After our first consultation it was clear that Sean was very good at his job. He not only gave me suggestions on where I was going wrong but he explained why my body was reacting the way it was. I learned that the long cardio sessions were not the way I was going to get the body that I wanted.
Now, with Sean’s nutrition and training plans I have never felt better. He taught me that lifting heavy weight and doing High Intensity Interval Training are most effective in burning fat and building muscle. I have been on the plans for about a month now and am seeing the results I have wanted for years. I am started to see the muscle definition and lean body that I have always wanted and I’m not spending hours in the gym!
Sean has been so helpful throughout the whole process. Our schedules are a little opposite but I never felt that my questions were not being answered. He makes himself readily available through e-mail and if you need to meet with him one-on-one he always makes time. I know that he has many other clients but I honestly felt like I was the only one. In his own words, he is not a “one and done” type of trainer. Any time I had a question or concern I had an answer within hours. When I first started my training plan he took the time to walk me though all of the lifts until he knew I was comfortable, this was something that he absolutely did not need to do and to me, was above and beyond.
I can’t thank Sean enough for getting me out of my fitness rut. I feel better and look better and he gave me that push to get there. Working with him has truly changed my life.

I approached Sean at the end of March 2013 for a help with a nutrition plan after I had put on a few extra pounds and wasn’t seeing any results from working out alone. I weighed in at 239 lbs. in the beginning of April when I started his plan. The plan he developed for me isn’t like any diet I have ever tried. It’s just like he says it is; a nutrition plan. I filled out the questionnaire he sent me and he tailored the plan to what I like and what I need for the goals I have. I even get to eat my sardines regularly.
My progress to date is more than I could have asked for. I haven’t gotten bored and started hitting the junk food again. Sean’s plan for me allows flexibility to keep from getting bored. I have my set caloric intakes for Workout and Non-workout days. Once I really got going on this plan, I found myself not craving food not on the plan. I actually get disgusted seeing some people eat what I used to eat. I think that in order for a nutrition or diet plan to be successful you have to really not just want it, but enjoy it.
And that’s where I find myself today. I enjoy what I eat and I’m still losing more of the fat that I find grotesque. I now weigh in at 217 lbs. and I couldn’t be happier. I feel great and like I said, I’m still losing. I also had to take a couple of weeks off from the gym due to a minor surgery and I maintained my weight. That was a great feeling.

When Sean Valentine agreed to take me on as his client for personal training, he accepted the challenge of working with a 77 year old woman with Parkinson’s Disease. Since this was to be a new experience for him, he immediately researched the topic to learn about recommended exercises for PD. These included the particularly important ones involving balancing, stretching, and strengthening. He set up a program with the understanding that we would work together to find out what was best for me. At his request I checked with my neurologist for his OK before we began.
From the beginning I have been very impressed with Sean’s professionalism and his enthusiastic desire to both be helpful and to add his own knowledge and experience. I found his unflagging optimism and cheerful good nature to be particularly motivating, an important factor in the often boring and painful job of maintaining a healthy level of fitness. His excitement with my progress was contagious. In addition he has served as a teacher with his extensive knowledge of physiology and his willingness to explain how and why exercises should be done. In so many ways Sean is an outstanding trainer and a real pleasure to work with.

My son Parker who is a 14 year old, basketball/football player, had become way to cool to work out with his dad. At age 14 he still needed instruction and proper guidance, which sent me on a quest to fine the best trainer for him. For the better part of 2 months I searched for the "best" match. I observed many trainers working out and working with their clients. One person stood out like a bright light, that was Sean Valentine…..I noticed him workout himself with a definite direction and purpose. Even more so, I observed him training clients of all ages, body types and level of gym experience. As an ex-athlete I just knew that Sean would be perfect for my Son.
In April of 2013 I hired Sean to train Parker and from day one his sessions were well thought out and personalized to Parker's goals. For the better part of ten weeks, Sean methodically worked my son through several phases and progressions. At the conclusion of the ten weeks, I not only saw a noticeable difference in my sons physical appearance, he also noticed a sizable (pardon the pun) increase in athletic performance.
All that I can say is that it was a sad day for Parker when Sean pushed off to Hawaii……Sean had a great impact on him.
I strongly recommend Sean as a trainer to any one regardless of your fitness goals.
